About Us

Fayette County Children and Youth Services was established by the  Board of County Commissioners in 1936.

The agency provides comprehensive services to troubled, neglected, abused, and dependent children and their families.

The goal of Children and Youth Agencies is to ensure  for each child a permanent, legally assured family which protects the child from  abuse and neglect.

Every child has the right to grow up in a permanent family.  Every reasonable effort must be made to keep families together and placement out of  the home should only occur if the well being of the child can not be assured  within the family.  To help meet the medical, social, and emotional needs of  children and families unable to provide for themselves.  To assist those capable of becoming self sufficient through skill building, opportunity enhancement, and family focused services.  To help protect children from abuse, neglect,  exploitation and endangerment.

The services of FCCYS is designed to do  the following:

  1. To help keep children in their own homes; to prevent abuse, neglect and  exploitation; and to help overcome problems that result in dependency and  delinquency.
  2. To provide temporary, substitute placement in foster homes and residential child care facilities for a child in need of such care.
  3. To reunite children with their families when temporary, substitute placement has been necessary.
  4. To provide a permanent, legally assured family for a child who has been  in temporary, substitute care and who cannot be returned to his own home.
  5. To provide services and care when ordered by the Court for children who  have been adjudicated dependent or delinquent.

Services are provided by the agency based on the needs of the child and  family in a confidential and caring manner.
